Putting up a container tent means placing steel arches, pipes, and hardware well above the ground, on top of two shipping containers. On our latest 40' x 40' container tent installation on Oahu, our OSI telehandler did a lot of that work. Here's how the machine fits into a tent build, and what our tent installation service covers from start to finish.

Why Reach Matters on a Tent Install

A container tent frame sits on top of its containers, so much of the work happens at height. A telehandler's extending boom gives our crew a mobile way to reach and place materials right where the work is happening. On this build, the OSI's boom stretched right over the steel frame while the crew worked.

The Build, Step by Step

This 40' x 40' tent went up on two 40-foot shipping containers. Our crew welded the base plates, then hung and secured the arches, put up the cross pipes and tensioner wires that tie the frame together, and filled in holes and welded plates over the base plate gaps. With the frame fully assembled, the back wall was laid out next.

The Machine Behind the Build

An OSI telehandler combines the reach of a crane, the lifting power of a forklift, and the mobility of a loader in one machine. Large all-terrain tires and an extending boom let it work on uneven yards and job sites, and swappable attachments mean the same machine can handle a different task the next hour. We carry OSI telehandlers too, so if you're considering one for your own operation, ask us about our lineup.

What Our Tent Installation Service Covers

Our crew installs container tents on-site across Oahu, from setting out materials to a finished structure. A typical install covers:

  • Unloading and organizing the tent package on site

  • Welding the base plates to the containers

  • Raising and securing the arches

  • Installing the cross pipes and tensioner wires

  • Laying out the walls and installing the tarp cover

Scheduling and price vary by site and tent size, so request a quote and we'll go over the details.

Built for Hawaii's Wind and Weather

Container tents are made to stand up to Hawaii's sun, rain, and trade winds. The galvanized steel frame is designed to last 15+ years, and the UV-resistant tarp up to 10 years. A properly installed single truss tent is rated for winds up to 65 mph, and our double truss models are rated to 70 mph. If winds are expected to exceed the rating, we recommend removing the tarp so wind can pass through the frame, and we offer tarp removal and reinstallation on Oahu.

Choosing the Right Size

Our container tents come in 20' x 20', 40' x 20', 40' x 40' x 13', and 40' x 40' x 15' sizes, plus a 40' x 40' x 21' free standing model. Each container tent spans two shipping containers of matching length, and high cube, side opening, and double door containers all work. Not sure which size fits your yard? Send us a message and we'll help you size it.
