We recently wrapped up another container tent installation here on Oahu, this one a 20' x 20' single truss container tent built onto two shipping containers. Container tents like this one are a popular choice for contractors, warehouses, and yards that need extra covered space fast, without the cost or permitting delays of a permanent building. Here's a look at how this one came together, from materials on site to the finished, fully covered structure.

Getting Started

Before any arches went up, our crew unloaded and organized all the materials on site, including the curved truss pipes, mounting hardware, and tarp cover that would make up the finished structure. Getting the layout right at this stage, from container placement to making sure the site is level, sets up the rest of the install to go smoothly.

Mounting the Brackets

With the containers placed and squared, our crew laid out and welded the mounting brackets onto the container roofs. These brackets are what the arches bolt into, so getting their spacing and alignment right is one of the most important steps in the whole install, it determines how evenly the load gets distributed across the frame.

Raising the Arches

One by one, the galvanized steel arches were lifted into place and bolted onto the mounting brackets. As each arch went up, our crew connected the cross pipes and tensioners that tie the frame together, giving the structure its strength and keeping it rigid enough to handle Hawaii's wind and rain before the cover ever goes on.

Why a Container Tent?

A container tent gives you fast, durable covered space without the cost or permitting hassle of permanent construction. They're built by pairing a steel-arch frame with a heavy-duty tarp cover on top of two shipping containers, and they come in a range of sizes, from smaller 20' x 20' setups like this one up to larger single and double truss structures for bigger yards and job sites. Benefits include:

  • Weather-resistant protection for equipment, materials, and inventory

  • Quick setup and teardown compared to traditional structures

  • Durable frame built to hold up in Hawaii's climate

  • Flexible sizing to fit job sites, storage yards, or warehouse needs

  • A cost-effective alternative to building a permanent structure

Tarp's Up and Complete

With the frame fully assembled, the last step was installing the tarp cover and running the tensioner pipes to pull it tight across the arches. The cover itself is a heavy-duty, UV-resistant material built to hold up under sun, rain, and trade winds, so once it's on and tensioned, the tent is fully sealed and ready to protect whatever goes underneath it.

Installed Island-Wide on Oahu

We keep container tents in stock and install them island-wide on Oahu, with most installs like this one completed in just a few days from start to finish. Whether you need a small 20' x 20' setup for a yard or a larger structure for a job site or warehouse, we can size a container tent to fit your space and get it installed fast.
